The United States Submarine Veterans (USSVI) is a national group that represents all US Navy personnel, both officer and enlisted, who are Qualified in Submarines. The USSVI consists of over 100 bases nationwide. The local base, USS HADDO Base, is located in Cleveland, TN.
All qualified submariners are welcome to attend USS HADDO Base meetings and become a member of the USSVI and the HADDO Base. We meet the second Saturday, at 1300, of each month at the Golden Corral in Cleveland. The Golden Corral is only a couple of miles from I-75 Exit 27.
For further information contact Alan Syler, 843-1590 or asyler@comcast.net. You can also visit the national web site, with a link to the USS HADDO Base at www.ussvi.org.
You will be welcomed by fellow submariners, from World War II to the boats of today.

What is the United States Submarine Veterans (USSVI)?
We are United States submarine sailors; we are all qualified in submarines.
USSVI Creed: "To perpetuate the memory of our shipmates who gave their lives in the pursuit of their duties while serving their country. That their dedication, deeds, and supreme sacrifice be a constant source of motivation toward greater accomplishments. Pledge loyalty and patriotism to the United States Government."
Included are submariners from the very early boats, WWII, post-war, and the nuclear powered boats of today. All qualified submariners from E2 to four stars; active duty, one enlistment to retired.
We have over 100 local bases (chapters) from coast to coast. Our members are from every state in the Union. Base meetings are a place to learn submarine history from the people who wrote it.
The USS HADDO Base is located in Cleveland, Tennessee. It was commissioned August 26, 2006. The HADDO Base consists of 66 members, 34 of which are from the area. We hope to recruit many more local submariners to the USS HADDO Base.
In an effort to live up to the USSVI Creed, the base takes on projects. Our first project is to place a monument at the Chattanooga National Cemetery, Circle of Honor. The monument has been installed and we are dedicating it on Navy Day 2007, October 13, at 1100.
