US Coast Guard Cutter Quachita carries guests from their Harrison base to Ross's landing on May 11, 2002
as part of Armed Forces Week Celebration

Page One

Guests board the Coast Guard cutter Quachita for the trip which began from Harrison Bay at 10:30 AM.

Safety procedures are explained by Sr. Chief James Max Evans, BMCS, before leaving the dock.

Ernie Seagle (right) enjoys his third trip on the Quachita.  A former chairman of the Chattanooga Area Veterans Council, he joined the Marine Corps in 1948 and retired as a sergeant major.

The cutter moves into the Chickamauga Dam lock.

Locks close behind the cutter to lower it for the next level of the Tennessee River.

The cutter at the bottom of the lock is ready for the next level of the river to continue toward Ross's Landing. (Photos by Pete Chaney, IPS Features)
