The Chattanooga Area Veterans Council
sponsored the Memorial Day Services
on May 25, 2009, at the
Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Rep. Zach Wamp was the keynote speaker at the annual Memorial Day observance held in the Chattanooga on Monday, May 25, 2009.  Services began at 11 AM following a half hour music prelude by the Legionnaires from American Legion Post 95.  The host organization was the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 203 in Chattanooga.
Ronnie Williams, CAVC chairman, introduced the host organization and Chapter President Charlie Hobbs gave the call to order.  Colors were presented by the CAVC Honor Guard.
Capt. Paul Williams, USN retired, gave the invocation and the convocation.
The National Anthem was sung by the Choo Choo Chorus who also presented other musical offerings during the ceremony.
Don Hays led in the Pledge of Allegiance. Following a massing of the Colors, National Cemetery Director Paul Martin gave the welcome.
Jim Hammond recognized the dignitaries and the Gold Star Mothers were recognized.
The massing of the colors was changed from previous ceremonies where each post read the names of their deceased members.  Fred Huskey cited the number of members each organization had lost to death.
Hobbs introduced Rep. Wamp.  An "Army Brat," he was born at Fort Benning while his father was in the military.
Following the 21-gun salute by the CAVC Honor Guard, taps was played and hoisting of the colors was done by the cemetery staff.
