New CAVC officers are
installed
at 18th annual banquet-installation
Ronnie Williams was installed as 2009-2010 chairman of the Chattanooga Area Veterans Council in the 18th annual banquet held March 27 at the Convention Center. John Keys, Commissioner of Tennessee Veterans Affairs was the guest speaker.
Bill Norton, 2007-2008 CAVC chairman and member of American Legion Post 95, was given the Charles H. Coolidge Veteran of the year Award. Janelle Thompson, member of the VFW Post 1289 Ladies Auxiliary, was chosen Distaff of the Year. The Milton Thomas Award went to Pete Chaney, a member of Post 95 and an officer of VFW Post 4848.
In addition to the new chairmen, other officers installed were Chairman Elect Noah Long, Vice Chairman David Townsend, Treasurer Dan Lovin and Secretary Mark Parks.
Invocation and benediction were given by Lester Norton Jr. with colors posted by the American Legion Post 95 Color Guard.
Williams presented the veteran and distaff awards and Bill Norton, immediate past commander, gave the Milton Thomas Award in the absence of Chairman Bill Raines, who becomes past chairman and trustee.
Officers were installed by Jim Shull, who was CAVC chairman 2004-2005.
